Sketchy time at PTW ....

Sending best wishes to anyone affected by the dreadful storms of Monday - I sincerely hope you are all back to normal very soon.

It's sketchy time over at Papertake Weekly and I (almost) followed sketch 84 - I actually missed off one layer :-(  but still enjoyed making this Christmas card using Graphics 45 'The 12 days of Christmas' paper - it's gorgeous, lovely rich colours, a shame to cut into it!  I used two resin doves, some scarlet berry 15mm satin ribbon and some 'Florence' ivory cotton lace.  I added sparkle with some Stardust stickles and made the poinsettia flowers with a new die I got from Joanna Sheen and popped in some white beaded stamens and some 5mm clear gems in the centres - still can't get to all our crafty bits and bobs!

I hope you will find time to pop over to PTW to see what my very talented teamies have come up with this week and we would love you to join in with the sketch challenge!

Ribbon, lace, stickles, gems, doves and beaded stamens all from The Ribbon Girl

see you soon

still no cards from me .....

don't forget to watch our very own Dawny P on Create & Craft this morning - she's on at 12 noon demonstrating for our friends Lili of the Valley

and I've just popped on t omy blog and see that naughty blogger didn't save my fairly long description of why I wasn't able to craft so this is a very short version  -  I'll just leave a photo of the damage a water leak can cause when don't know it's there, the hole in the floor is where the rotted floor boards were, the hole in the pink colour plaster is where the plaster came off due to water seeping under the tiles, the wood/plasterboard was one side of a stud wall, the shower side had to be removed beause it was water damaged under the tiling!  I can't wait for the big reveal but I think it will be a while yet and Andrea and I hope to craft in the kitchen at the weekend 'cos our big craft table has a new glass shower screen on it!

see you soon Mary x

Make it sparkly .......

There is a new card challenge at the Ribbon Girl Blog today 'make it sparkly'
I'm trying to get one or two special Christmas cards made before the rush begins and still like making criss-cross cards (in fact, every time I visit my teamie Teresa's blog I am inspired to get criss-crossing!!    I spent quite a long time making the insert (the image is from Ikido 'Forever Santa' - I cut it with a nestie, but it was too short for the card and fell to the bottom and could not be seen, so I matted it onto another piece of card after shaping the corners with a rounder punch.  All edges were inked then stickled!

My 'sparkle' comes from the diamante stems, stardust stickles and a starburst diamante embellishment

To embellish my card I used 'Faye' ivory vintage style cotton lace, raspberry velvet zig zag, burgundy satin ribbon, a starburst diamante embellishment, snowflake charm, diamante stems, a dahlia flower from a 'Barley Sugar' pack, WOC mm cream open roses, ivory hip rosebuds, coffee pretty blossoms, mocha beaded stamens and stardust stickles - all are from The Ribbon Girl

Please visit the Ribbon Girl blog to see the fabulous cards by the Design Team - I am looking forward to seeing all of your sparkly projects!
