Sketch time at PTW .......

Another scheduled post - hope blogger works!  This is my card for the new Papertake Weekly challenge 'sketch time (starts 28th August) - but you can use any of the previous sketches from the past year so I chose sketch number 61.  I used a die cut image and added plenty of stickles to make it shine.

The rose pink silky crush ribbon ties fabulous bows and I added butterfly guipure lace under the image.  The sentiment and tag are by Papertrey Ink.

I also used pink 12mm zig zag cotton lace, Zva clear crystal stripe and some pink pretty blossoms, cherry blossom and cream chrysanthemum plus the usual green leaves courtesy of my MS punch!

Do try and pop over to Papertake Weekly to see the amazing range of designs by the very talented design team!

Ribbon, clear crystals, lace, Stickles, mulberry flowers as mentioned are all available from here

A lovely wedding day ......

We thoroughly enjoyed our nephews' wedding day on Saturday, everything went off perfectly - the church service was so nice and the reception was fabulous.  Andrea took this photo of my husband and I in our back garden before we left for the church - the fascinator we made to match my outfit looked really nice and I wore it for most of the day -  I also made a little brooch to go with it (felt, white lace, pearl brad and a brooch back blank all from here plus some feathers from stash)

A fascinator and some felt ................

I needed a fascinator to wear with my turquoise and white outfit which I will be wearing for our nephews wedding this coming Saturday but coudn't find exactly the right shade of turquoise - so my daughter Andrea and I set to and made this fabulous creation (this was a joint creation even though I've added my watermark to the photo - thank you Andrea!).
We wrapped 23mm turquoise organza around the top edge of a clear plastic fascinator comb to make a base for the other ribbons.  We made a looped rosette of turquoise 16mm grosgrain ribbon (and found some clothes pegs came in handy to keep the loops in place until they were stitched together).  The grosgrain was stitched to the organza base, then we stitched on a rosette of 23mm organza ribbon.

Next we stitched in some feathers with diamante on silver wires  -   this was hard work and Andrea had to use a pair of pliers to pull the needle through the various layers - we couldn't find our hot glue gun which would have been much easier!  The top layer is loops of white organza looped trim stitched in place with a 15mm sparkly acrylic button.  When it was almost complete we glued in a few feathers between the ribboned comb and the bottom layer of grosgrain using glossy accents.

This photo shows the fascinator with my clutch bag - we were really pleased with how this turned out and it just goes to show that where there's a will (and a crafter or two) there's a way!  Now I need a matching brooch to wear on my white jacket ........

Now onto this weeks Papertake Weekly challenge which is anything goes with the option of adding felt - please take a look at the gorgeous collection of cards by the design team, well worth a look.  Here is my card

I stamped my image onto watercolour paper and painted it with distress inks.  I used the sizzix to cut my felt flowers using three colours from the 6" Citrus Fruits Felt Pack, poked a hole in the centre with a pin then added a jewelled brad from my stash.  I added cream cluny lace, a strip of organza looped trim, a pastel heart pin and then leaves cut with my MS punch a magnolia swirl.

I made a small bow with organza looped trim and tied on a small butter yellow plain button with natural button twine.  The sentiment is Papertrey Ink stamped in cocoa brown

Anything but a card ..............

Inspired by the challenge at the Lili of the Valley Ideas to Inspire Blog I have decorated a plain cardbord box using My Minds Eye paper, scallop edge white flat lace, 12mm red zig zag lace, 7mm scarlett berry ribbon and strips cut from 8-row faux diamante mesh.  I used 3mm double sided tape which is just the thing for adhering ribbons and lace to the edges of boxes and  lids.  I really enjoyed decorating this box, it was a bit like icing a cake!

I'd love to be able to colour a LOTV image like this one, and take my hat off to Bev Rochester as it is one of the new LOTV Mini Masterpieces which were coloured by Bev prior to printing - gorgeous!  All I had to add was a bit of Stardust Stickles.  I used the largest image on the sheet and have plenty of smaller ones left for other projects.

Lace, Ribbon, Faux Diamante, Mini Ric Rac, Zig Zag Lace, 3mm double sided tape and Stardust Stickles are all from The Ribbon Girl online store

See you tomorrow with something fascinating ...

Flowers forTilda ........

I was delighted to be asked to be a Guest DT at Lovley Hanglar challenge which we are sponsoring this week - please pop over and enjoy the inspiration from the DT!

The theme is 'flowers' so I went to town and added a whole bouquet lol!  I coloured Tilda with distress inks, aded glitter, guipure lace, pearls and beautiful lilac scrunched/pleated taffeta.

I used a white babies beath, white cherry blossom, lilac satin ribbon rose and a daisy (all from here) and one of my precious cream chrysanthemums, rosebuds and a couple of white feathers from stash (note to self: next time DO NOT CUT FEATHERS if they are too long - tuck them in behind your flowers - the little bits floated everywhere!!

I'll be back later today with another post
