A dresden plate cover for a footstool .....

Its ages since I posted a paper crafting project, but Ive been having some work done to the house which has stopped me from getting to my colouring and card making stuff.  However, I did manage to make a quick card for my daughter Andrea for her recent engagement to Liam.

As my sewing machine and my fabric stash were easy to get to, I have been finding out how to do patchwork and quilting and the piece at the top is a 'Dresden Plate' design.  After I had cut and stitched the pieces and added the centre circle, I appliqued onto a pale green background then made a border with spot dark green fabric then added the binding.  I've been practising getting my corners right, and this one turned out very well.  I wasnt actually thinking of what the piece would end up as, I just enjoyed learning how to make it, but I think this will make a lovely cover for my footstool over Christmas time.

I have also being making a little wedding ring cushion and some quilted zipped pouches, the green  one is made from left-over fabric from the Dresden Plate piece.
