Pin cushions and Christmas stockings ....

I made these personalised quilted Christmas stockings using a couple of preprinted panels.  I drew the names on squared paper then cross-stitched onto 14 count Aida

A selection of pumpkin shaped pin cushions made from fat quarters of 100% cotton fabric, embroidery floss, ribbon and sparkly buttons.  They look lovely but are a devil to finish as I find it quite difficult to get my big doll needle through the well stuffed cushions to add the fine detail and the central button and 'leaves'  A sore finger means I may not make any more of these for a few weeks :0(

Thanks for visiting, I'll post again soon

The three bears .............

A good day for sewing as its pouring down with rain and the wind is very very cold!  While  I was at the bus stop after visiting the dentist in the village this morning I watched the massive 2019 Christmas tree being erected in front of the church - I never have my mobile with me to take photos when I really need it :-(    The year is flying past.  Another bear, this time I made a medium sized bear in pink floral cotton fabric from my stash.  I enjoyed making this size but I agree that the smallest bear does look very cute!

A very small bear .......

Remembe the large bear I made recently? well this is a really small version of it - a bit too small and fiddly so its back to the drawing board and I will make another mid way between original size and tiny size!  Bit like the three bears I think, this is definitely baby bear!   The bear has been made from 100% cotton fabric and has safety eyes and nose and is filled with safe stuffing.

Pink glass pumpkin ........

This is the gorgeous glass pumpkin I made at Sunderland Glass Centre a week ago - you're never sure of the actual colour it will turn out, until its been in the oven but I was really pleased with it.  Im adding it to my pumpkin collection on my bathroom windowsill!  The Glass Centre are running Christmas Bauble making experiences in the run up to Christmas and we'll be there to make another for our trees!

Strawbearyy bear

I got a new pattern for bears, rabbits and dogs Simplicity 8044 but as it was desribed as 'one size' I thought the creatures would be fairly small.  For the first attempt with this pattern, I used left over fabric from my stash, however, the bear was much bigger than I anticipated and took a lot of stuffing.  I used safety eyes and an embroidered nose but will use safety nose for the next one.  I was pleased how he turned out!

A dresden plate cover for a footstool .....

Its ages since I posted a paper crafting project, but Ive been having some work done to the house which has stopped me from getting to my colouring and card making stuff.  However, I did manage to make a quick card for my daughter Andrea for her recent engagement to Liam.

As my sewing machine and my fabric stash were easy to get to, I have been finding out how to do patchwork and quilting and the piece at the top is a 'Dresden Plate' design.  After I had cut and stitched the pieces and added the centre circle, I appliqued onto a pale green background then made a border with spot dark green fabric then added the binding.  I've been practising getting my corners right, and this one turned out very well.  I wasnt actually thinking of what the piece would end up as, I just enjoyed learning how to make it, but I think this will make a lovely cover for my footstool over Christmas time.

I have also being making a little wedding ring cushion and some quilted zipped pouches, the green  one is made from left-over fabric from the Dresden Plate piece.

A teacher gift .....

There is a new 'anything goes' challenge over at Polkadoodles Digi Choosday Challenge   I hope you will find time to join us and if you pop over to the blog I'm sure you will be inspired by the wonderful projects made by the team, and of course, there is a nice prize!!
The design team were tasked with making a Christmas gift for a teacher, so I have made a gift bag from an A4 piece of paper which I printed.  The  digi paper overlaid with a digi image are all from The Winnie White Christmas collection at Polkadoodles.  I added a ribbon bow from my stash.  The handles at the top of the gift bag are plain red satin ribbon.  The bag was made just big enough to take a small tub of talcum powder as a gift for a teacher.

I hope you will be able to join in with our challenge and I'm looking forward to seeing what you make for this 'anything goes' challenge!
