Baptism Card

This baptism card is for my entry to Friday Sketchers Sketch 126 and I used a Lili of the Valley stamp which I coloured with copics then matted onto some lilac cardstock which I cut with a nestability die.  Sorry I don't remember where the checked paper came from.

I used open weave ribbon to form the horizontal and the vertical panel as in the sketch, but because I could see the raw ends of the vertical piece of ribbon, I added three lilac dewdrops, both from Ribbon Girl. 

I made a further bow with the open weave ribbon and stuck it on the corner of the card together with some mulberry paper flowers from my stash.  When the card was finished, I added copious amounts of Stickles to highlight certain areas of the stamped image, and I am very pleased with the result!

Snowman Easle Card with Matching Box

I made this sparkling, glittery Christmas card for my sister (who loves bling as much as I do) and also for the Charisma Cardz Matchmaster challenge - entrants have to enter two items specifically to go together - I chose to make a matching box.  Sounds easy doesn't it, oh I'll just knock up a matching box - hah!

I had no problem making the box base, but after three attempts at making a lid which had to be just slightly bigger, I couldn't figure out how I kept making a rectangle rather than a square .... I got into such a pickle my craft knife was scoring my metal ruler rather than the white card!! But, quite a while later, I saw what I was doing wrong - I was forgetting to trim the edge off my card, but eventually managed a beautiful box! and feel confident that I could now turn out a box with no problems at all!

I chose a digi kit by Mary Fran for the papers and snowman and used white card for matting, oodles of stickles stardust glitter glue, gorgeous spray of crystal flowers and some snowflakes which I cut with a nestabilities die then glittered and added crystal diamond centres from stash.  The beautiful ribbon is 25mm wide fuschia from Ribbon Girl

We've had a very busy week and the other task Andrea and I accomplished yesterday was finishing off making the raspberry jam and marmalade which is being sold at school for the Children in Need - the kids will stick on the Pudsey Bear labels and lid labels at school

A Green and Sparkly Card

I made this green and sparkly card for this weeks Magnolia challenge blog
I stamped the image and coloured with copics then glittered it by the bucketful (Stickles eucalyptus and stardust).  I then carefully cut out the little green fairy. The papers are Cosmo Cricket and the green card from stash.  I finished the card with meadow green micro dot ribbon and leaf pins from here.  Extra stickles was applied to all edges to make the whole card sparkly.

I made this wall hanging for my lovely friends Joe and Sue - this particular passage from 1 Corinthians means a lot to us.  I cut chipboard to size and covered it with Sweet Shoppe Designs papers, then added the text which was matted onto co-ordinating paper.  The corners of the board were rounded and then I stuck patterned paper on to more board and cut out the letters of LOVE on the sizzix machine.  

I really went to town on the mulberry and artificial flowers, I curled some of the wires around my crochet hook and added some leaves and some pink 'diamond' sparkly stems. 

Such is my love of glitteriness, that I just had to add a bit of stickles stardust glitter glue.  Florists wire was bent to shape and made the actual hanging loop (holes were made with a cropadile) and I added pink paper to more board and cut out the hearts  which were also glittered with stickles and attached to more florist wire and attached to the main wall hanging.   I added various satin ribbons, loopy trim and openweave ribbons, all from here

Santa Easle Card

This easle card was so much fun to make - the papers are so crisp and beautiful, not my usual choice for Christmas papers  but I'll be using them again - they are from Nitwit Collections.  I followed the sketch on the CPS blog  and Papertake Weekly sparkly and bright challenge and I am entering it for both of these challenges.

The circle and scalloped background were cut on a sizzix machine using nestabilities.  I added baby blue satin ribbons from the Ribbon Girl and copious amounts of Stickles glitter glue

A Pink Bauble Card with Bells and Ribbons

The background paper and bauble shape were from http://www.theclipartfairy.com/ which I printed out then mounted the background paper onto some fuschia cardstock, then a scalloped card blank.

I cut out the pink bauble, glittered it with Stickles. Then I added lots of pale pink dewdrops, silver bells, wide pink and white spotted organza ribbon and narrow pale pink ribbon from Ribbon Girl.

Autumn Leaves

This is my entry for 'Autumn Leaves' on the Daring Card Makers challenge.  I downloaded a free copy of the sheet music for the old song 'Autumn Leaves' which I printed out and distressed, then mounted on kraft card which I then stuck on a card blank.  I downloaded some free clipart and selected a leaf border which I printed, cut out and covered with crackle glaze. 

I printed some words from the song, cut them out using a nestability die, then cut a larger shape in the kraft card, stuck them together and added pale gold dewdrops, some orange satin ribbon and a couple of leaf pins, all from the Ribbon Girl.  I was really pleased with my effort as I was trying to be just a little bit different and try to come up with something unique.

A Pink Magnolia Card

This card is for the  Magnolia challenge blog  card challenge 'Think Pink' and also the  Friday Sketcher Challenge and absolutley everything on it is pink!  The various pink papers are Rose Garden  by Papermania, the image is Magnolia which I coloured with various pink copics, highlighted with fine black pen then glittered with stickles. 

The flowers and leaves are from my stash and the pink satin ribbon, the pink pins and the pink dewdrops are all from the Ribbon Girl

A Sparkling, Frosty and Wintry Polar Bear Card

Brr, it looks so frosty!!  This card is for the LOTV Challenge 70 to make a Winter Fun card with plenty of snowflakes and glitter! I used tons of stickles glitter glue, first of all I put some on my finger and I rubbed it all over the diecut LOTV image after I had cut it into a round shape then mounted it onto card, both cut with nestabilities.  I carefully added stickles to the nestabilities snowflakes, then put some right around the outside of the card. 

I used my Cuttlebug embossing folder to make the snowflake background paper and added white spotted organza ribbon, aqua dewdrops in the centre of the snowflakes and fancy pins from here.  The exceptionally sparkly leaves were cut from a sprig of artificial winter foliage - anyone who knows me knows I love anything that glitters or sparkles!

Green and Red Magnolia Fairy

I had great fun making this card which I am entering into the Caardvarks challenge for a stamped card with a stamped inside.  I coloured the stamped Magnolia fairy image with copics, highlighted with a fine black pen, then glittered with stickles before I cut it out as carefully as possible.  I used Making Memories Noel paper in burgundy and gold, then added burgundy and moss green satin ribbon on the diagonal. 

I stamped and coloured the holly leaves, cut them out then glued them in place, glittered with stickles and added these fabulous holly-berry-red dewdrops

The finishing touch was a golden sparkly star pin.  Ribbon, dewdrops and pin all from here

For the inside of the card I glued in another piece of Making Memories Noel paper, added a nestability shape which I cut in white card, added yet another stamped, coloured and glittered holly leaf and stamped a greeting from Waltzing Mouse Stamps.

Christmas Ornament and Red & Green Card

Inspired by a hanging wall ornament made by Kath, I set off to make my own version - it took me ages, and tons of stickles, but I love it and am really pleased with it - I made mine half the size of Kaths, so it was fiddly but if I made another, I'd be much quicker. The ribbon and gold bells are from Ribbon Girl.

Penguins, an igloo and a christmas tree ....

Here is my card for LOTV Challenge 69 - the picture is a diecut embellished with oodles of stickles. (note, I'm getting so much practice with this stickles stuff that I don't put my fingers in the wet stuff as much as I used to)  I used mitten weather Cosmo Cricket paper with stick on pearls from 3djean, turquoise card and mulberry flowers which I tweaked with turquoise stickles from stash because they were actually blue and I needed aqua or turquoise.  The turquoise twill stripe ribbon and the very narrow white ric rac is from the Ribbon Girl.  It took me ages to do and I couldnt find the gizmo for punching holes to allow a ribbon to be threaded, so improvised with more stick on pearls!  The photo is not very good because it is very very grey here - see the photo I took at 2 in the afternoon today - yes folks, that is your actual white stuff in my back garden, not at the top of a mountain (at the top of a hill, yes, but I don't live that high up)!!! I'm off to find my woollies, gloves and boots - it's only mid-October and I'm so glad my helpful hubby cut the grass yesterday!

New Colour Challenge Number 2 over at the Ribbon Girls Blog

There is a new colour challenge based on red and green over at the Ribbon Girls blog and they are giving a fab prize of a beautiful selection of ribbons, pins and twine! There will also be extra prizes of three mitten hangings by the very talented Gail Milburn.

This is the DT card I made in reds and greens  - I used Waltzing Mouse stamps and cut them out with Nestabilities Labels 14 all laid onto Cosmo Cricket papers.  The satin ribbon, cherry red Bakers Divine Twine and tiny liberty bells are all from the Ribbon Girl

I had a great time at the Durham Scrapbook shop crop on Friday night, especially as Nat took along her home-made lemon cupcakes and delicious cookies - mmmmmmmmmmm

Autumn Bear

This is my entry for the Lili of the Valley Thursday Challenge No 68 and also Charismacardz Autumn themed challenge. I stamped the bear and coloured him with loads of copics then  cut a rectangle and matted it onto brown cardstock which was then mounted on a co-ordinating brown/fawn paper from Cosmo Cricket.  I choose orange, mid-brown and willow green 15mm satin ribbons from here and why I don't know, tried to weave them into the pattern you see here and stick them onto the stripey Cosmo Cricket background paper - it took the best part of the morning I spent at the Middlesbrough crop with Jean, Gail and Jan (happy birthday 10/10/10 Jan the chocolate cake was yummy!) and the girls!! 

I finished off the card with plenty of stickles glitter and added some cream and browny/fawny/goldy mulberry paper flowers from here and green leaves and was really pleased with it, because it was just that little bit different.

Quick and Easy Golden Wedding Cake

Due to my shoulder surgery in May and problems making cakes and rolling out marzipan etc, this golden wedding cake started with a couple of plain fully iced cakes from good old M&S. 

I had to make them appear bigger and I  added satin ribbon with gold lurex edge around the boards and cake bases, then gold beaded twisted cord around the cake bases (all from the wedding/diamante section).  The bottom cake was stood on a circle of polystyrene into which silk roses and flowers with 2 inch stalks had been inserted.  The cake was then stood on a golden charger plate. 

The cake divider was actually an empty plastic ribbon reel edged with yellow stretch ruffle ribbon.  Again, artificial roses were stuck onto the centre of the reel with sticky foam pads. 

The decorated ribbon reel was placed on top of the bottom cake

A couple of flowers and a few bunches of flat gold cord were tied into a small posy and positioned on the top of the small cake - very effective, quick, easy and absolutley no hassle and best of all, Daisy and Davey were delighted with it!
